ZEUS MANAGEMENT
INFORMATION SYSTEM FRAMEWORK
Zeus is a management information system shell
running on Crystal Reports and MS SQL database manager, developed on the latest
.NET technology. The ultimate role of Zeus is to provide a unique and common
shell for the operation, display and management of various custom tailored
reports, statements, tables and graphics taking information from different
business databases.
The software’s current functions were designed to
address customer requirements identified in consultation with our customers and
during the projects of the last few years. The product is an easy-to-use
clear-cut application with the following features:
§ Reports
can be customised and saved individually
Before running a report, a number of filters or
conditions can be set to ensure that the report displays the required set of
data only (specific product group, period, etc.). The settings for any given
report can be saved so that the report needs not be reconfigured again every
time the report is run.
§ Favourites
Each user can establish a list of the most often
used reports and statements, which can be grouped according to any criteria.
§ Scheduled
and on-time execution
Zeus can run certain reports at a given data and
time, as programmed. This can be especially useful for more complex reports
which require more time to run, or when the use of the business management
system from where the data are derived should be avoided while the statement is
being generated. In this case, the system can be configured to execute the
report after office hours. The same way, the system can be set to send the
reports generated to one or more email addresses. For instance, specific users
can receive previous week statistics every Monday without further intervention.
§ Snapshot
The current status of any report can be saved
separately whenever the user wants to take a snapshot of the status of the
report “at any given moment”, which can be later viewed again. The report status
can be saved in HTML or PDF formats.

printing, saving and forwarding features:
Studies reveal that sensitive information are
most often disclosed to unauthorised recipients in printed form. Zeus can be
configured to disable the printing, saving or exporting to external databases or
the electronic forwarding (e.g. e-mail) of reports by a specific user, who will
only have viewing rights.
o Source
protection:
This function can prevent Zeus users from
directly accessing databases used as data sources to ensure that such data are
accessed in the form of reports generated via the Zeus user interface only.
Other limitations can be set to allow users to run certain reports on specific
database(s) only.

MS Office interface (Outlook, Excel, Word)
Zeus
can be of great assistance to corporate managers that are not directly involved
in recording and processing operation events and transactions in IT systems, but
have an increased role in defining the structure of data to be taken from such
systems, in the evaluation of data and in decision-making. Zeus was therefore
designed to run even on client computers on which no other business software or
their client (e.g. SAP Business One) are installed. This could result in
significant savings in costs at companies with a number of users who need to
take (but not record) information from such systems, whereby purchasing ERP user
licences for such clients would be a waste of valuable resources.
Zeus can be connected to any integrated business
management system of enhanced technology, such as SAP Business One or Exact
Globe 2003.
Among other advantages of using Zeus, the time
required to query or run certain reports can be cut significantly. For example,
the time to run a report could be reduced to 1-2 (!) minutes from 20 minutes
earlier thanks to Zeus’ direct data access in SQL.
The module also gives direct access to the core
business data referred to in the reports during the query, and these can be set
as filter conditions for the search.
